Dr. Meisenburg was born and raised in New Hampshire where she began a life-long passion for horses. From competing at regional level Arab, Morgan and Hunter horse shows to scouring the mountainsides looking for lost vacationers via Shetland pony, horses have played a strong part. Today she enjoys breeding sport horses, training, riding, showing and continues over 25 years of volunteer service for the 4-H horse program.
Professionally, Dr. Meisenburg graduated from the University of Florida with her BS and DVM degrees. Numerous awards, scholarships, publications, public appearances and leadership titles adorn her lengthy resume. Her strong interest in equine reproduction began early in her college education while at UF and was fostered by research funded through scholarships awarded to her while she pursued her Bachelors of Science. While attending veterinary college, Dr. Meisenburg and research colleague / best friend Heather Greaves, MS, started EquiGen LLC in Archer, Florida. EquiGen is a full service equine reproduction center where Dr. Meisenburg pursues her passion for equine reproduction as veterinarian-in-charge via outstanding service and continued research in the field of equine reproduction.
In addition to cutting edge reproduction, Dr. Meisenburg has also managed to fold in traditional Chinese veterinary medicine (TCVM) into her medical bag to enhance the care of her EquiGen patients. Acupuncture in human medicine is well noted for being quite helpful with fertility, so EquiGen is happy to offer this 3,000+ year old modality of medicine to its clients as well. Dr. Meisenburg's acupuncture and Chinese medicine talents call her to barns spreading from Jacksonville, FL to regular monthly visits to Wellington's finest equine athletes for an assortment of medical issues. Dr. Meisenburg is proud to be a regular lecturer and lab instructor for Dr. Xie's Chi Institute, a school that teaches TCVM to veterinarians from around the world.
Dr. Meisenburg is also very active within her own equine veterinarian community. She presently serves the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) as a committee member for Membership Development and Women committee and the committee for Recent Veterinary graduates.
